Bowling: Baker System

Baker System
Several times during the season, the bowling teams participate in position rounds. These rounds follow the Baker system format.

The Baker system is used in many events and tournaments. Each member of a five-person team rolls two frames to comprise a normal 10-frame game. The leadoff bowler rolls in the first and sixth frames; the second bowler throws the second and seventh frames, and so on.
This format emphasizes the team concept. During Indiana high school meets using the Baker format, teams roll 10 games worth two points each to equal 20 points that are accumulated in a normal regular season match.
If both teams win five games (ten points), then the tiebreaker is total pins in the match. This style of scoring promotes the team concept even more.
